Overview

When a business creates something of value — a brand, software, a published work or a new product — it deserves protection. We handle trademark, copyright, and patent matters, from initial filing through enforcement.

Common questions

How long does trademark registration take in Pakistan?

A straightforward application that draws no objections can often be registered in about a year or more, since IPO Pakistan publishes each mark for a statutory opposition period before final registration. Applications facing office objections or third-party opposition take longer.

Do I need to register a trademark before using it?

Registration is not strictly required, but an unregistered mark is harder to protect: you would generally have to rely on a passing-off action and prove your prior use and reputation. Registering early is the most reliable protection against someone else claiming a similar mark.

Does a Pakistani trademark protect my brand internationally?

No — trademark protection is territorial. A Pakistani registration only protects the mark within Pakistan; separate filings (or a Madrid Protocol application, where applicable) are needed for protection in other markets.
